Maharashtra Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar Faces Backlash for Disrespecting Woman in Job Delay Inquiry

A video of Maharashtra School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar rebuking a woman over her question about the delay in teachers’ recruitment has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred in Beed city on Monday during a meeting between the minister and candidates for school teacher positions. Deepak Kesarkar, a member of the Shiv Sena party led by Eknath Shinde, later justified his reaction by stating that the woman was not following proper discipline during the interaction.

In the video, the woman, who aspires to be a government school teacher, can be heard questioning the minister about the delay in the recruitment process and expressing frustration about the long wait. She claimed that there was no advertisement about the recruitment, to which the minister replied that every district had been instructed to issue an advertisement. However, the woman interrupted him and asked when the advertisement would be issued.

Deepak Kesarkar then warned the woman that if she continued to behave in an undisciplined manner, she would not be able to secure a government job. As she persisted in speaking, the minister threatened to identify her and request officials to disqualify her.

NCP MP Supriya Sule criticized Kesarkar for his behavior and called on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to rein in his ministers. Sule also demanded an apology from Kesarkar to the woman involved in the incident.
