Buc-ee’s, the popular travel center and gas station chain, is set to open its first Missouri location in Springfield. The Springfield City Council approved the plans nearly two years ago, and now an opening date has finally been announced. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on December 11 at the store, conveniently located off Interstate 44 at 3284 N. Mulroy Road.
Stan Beard, Buc-ee’s real estate director, expressed his excitement about the new store and its location. He stated, “Springfield is rich with history that attracts travelers from all across the country and we are honored to be opening our first store in the birthplace of Route 66! We are thrilled to bring Buc-ee’s to the community and treat our road-trippers to the hospitality that Missouri is known for.”
Buc-ee’s, headquartered in Lake Jackson, Texas, is famous for its Texas-sized travel centers, and the Springfield store will be no exception. Spanning an impressive 53,000 square feet, the space will feature 120 fuel pumps and a wide array of food and drink options. Travelers can indulge in Texas barbecue, kolaches, homemade fudge, and Buc-ee’s renowned Beaver Nuggets, a delicious treat similar to kettle corn.
Once the Springfield location opens, Buc-ee’s will boast a total of 47 stores across the United States. While there are currently no plans for a Buc-ee’s in the Kansas City area, a similar chain called Wally’s, known for its massive gas stations, recently announced its intention to open a 50,000-square-foot store in Independence.
Excitement is building as the opening date for Buc-ee’s in Springfield draws near. Travelers and locals alike can look forward to experiencing the hospitality and offerings that have made Buc-ee’s a beloved destination for road-trippers across the country.
