A rescue dog named Ella has finally found her forever home after spending seven years at a shelter in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The Animal Resource Center described Ella’s adoption as “extremely special” and advised readers to have tissues ready.
The adoption story began when a woman named Kaitlyn emailed the center expressing her interest in adopting Ella. Kaitlyn explained that her dog, Jo, had passed away a few months earlier and she felt ready to bring another dog into her life.
When Ella met Kaitlyn, the shelter staff immediately knew that they had found the perfect match. Despite Ella’s history of fear and aggression towards strangers, she immediately warmed up to Kaitlyn. Ella approached her without hesitation, allowing Kaitlyn to give her scratches and pets.
During the visit, the staff noticed Kaitlyn becoming emotional as she looked at the bandana Ella was wearing around her neck. Kaitlyn revealed that the bandana belonged to Jo and that she had donated it to the shelter after his passing. This realization brought tears to the eyes of both Kaitlyn and the shelter staff. They couldn’t believe that out of the 20 dogs in the shelter, Ella was wearing the specific bandana that belonged to Jo.
Kaitlyn interpreted this as Jo’s stamp of approval and felt that it was meant to be. After seven long years and the emotional visit, Ella was officially adopted by Kaitlyn.
The Animal Resource Center expressed both sadness and happiness at Ella’s adoption. They will miss Ella eagerly greeting them every morning, but they are overjoyed that she finally received the love and home she deserved.
This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the power of adoption and the special connections that can be formed between humans and animals.
