Miraculous Rescue: Severely Injured Dog Discovered in Washington Woods, Shot in Head and Mouth Duct Taped

A dog that was cruelly shot and abandoned in the woods near Mount St. Helens has been discovered clinging to life, shocking the community of Cowlitz County, Washington. Dylan Schulda and his team from Cowlitz PUD stumbled upon the almost lifeless dog, hidden in a ditch far away from any signs of civilization. Schulda described how it was initially difficult to comprehend that it was a dog due to the remote location.

The dog, named Trooper, had been shot execution-style in the head and had his muzzle tightly taped, preventing him from calling out for help. Despite the pain and trauma, Trooper still showed love and gratitude towards Dylan after being rescued. A ray of hope emerged when an x-ray revealed that the bullet had not penetrated Trooper’s skull.

Schulda expressed shock at the cruel intention behind the act, stating, “Lo and behold there was a bullet… shot execution style… jawline.” The Cowlitz County Humane Society took charge of nursing Trooper back to health, appropriately naming him to reflect his resilience.

Currently, an employee at the humane society is fostering Trooper, but Dylan, who already owns two dogs, will soon welcome the resilient canine into his family. The origin of Trooper remains a mystery as he was not microchipped, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about animal abuse and ensuring sufficient resources are available.

The Humane Society of Cowlitz County is urging donations to support the care of Trooper and other animals in need under their care. In addition to Trooper, the society is also seeking a forever home for a cat named Vinny, who was set on fire.
