Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante Faints at Press Conference, Vows to Decrease Workload

Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante collapsed during a news conference on Tuesday, stating that she will reduce her workload as a result. The incident occurred while Plante was answering questions from reporters and she suddenly crouched down and sat. Thankfully, medical teams were able to assist her and she is now doing well.

In a video shared on Twitter, Plante can be seen collapsing on live television. She expressed feeling unwell in French before the incident occurred. Following the incident, reporters and cameras were instructed to leave the room.

Plante later posted on X that she had been examined by a medical team and is now doing alright. As a preventive measure, she will slow down her activities over the next few days and will not be attending Tuesday’s Ville-Marie borough council meeting.

This is not the first time a public figure has collapsed during a live TV broadcast. Earlier this year, a newsreader in the US experienced a medical event while about to give a morning weather report. Video footage captured the moment when the newsreader collapsed, with her eyes rolling to the back of her head before falling forward. The news anchors were visibly shocked and immediately cut to a commercial break.
