National Handball Team Suffers Defeat on Tijsterman’s Debut

The women’s team of ÖHB suffered a substantial defeat at the hands of Norway, but they have a chance to settle the score in a rematch scheduled for Sunday. This news comes along with the announcement of another player transfer to a successful men’s team that recently participated in the European Championship.

The Austrian Women’s national team, with their debutant team boss Monique Tijsterman, endured the anticipated loss. The ÖHB team faced Norway on home turf in Halden on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they were defeated 22:43, marking their third consecutive loss in the EHF EURO Cup games.

The Wednesday match was disappointing for the Austrians as they did not stand a chance from the beginning. However, they will have their opportunity to seek revenge against the Scandinavians in the upcoming game on Sunday in Innsbruck. This match, which is scheduled for 4 p.m., will be broadcasted live on ORF Sport +.

The team’s new boss, Tijsterman, has high aspirations for her team. She aims to guide her team to the pinnacle of European handball by the upcoming home European Championships. The championship is set to take place from November 28th to December 15th this year.

Damböck Transfers to Switzerland

In the meantime, another news of a player transfer in the men’s team has been announced. Eric Damböck, a 24-year-old winger from the successful European Championship team, will be moving from the Fivers to the first division Swiss club, HSC Kreuzlingen, in the summer.

The men’s national team is also preparing for their upcoming games in March against Croatia (scheduled for March 14th), Algeria (scheduled for March 16th), and Germany (scheduled for March 17th). These games will determine their place in the upcoming Olympic Games.
