Naveen-Ul-Haq Criticizes Australia’s Stance on Human Rights Ahead of Cricket World Cup 2023 Match

Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq took a dig at Australia on social media ahead of their Cricket World Cup 2023 match on November 7. In an Instagram post, Naveen referred to Australia’s refusal to travel to Afghanistan for a Test match in 2021 due to political tensions. He mentioned that it will be interesting to see Australia’s stance now, considering that the political situation in Afghanistan has not changed since then.

Naveen’s post read, “Refusing to play the bilateral series, now it will be interesting to see cricket Australia stand in the World Cup #standards #humanrights or 2 points.”

In other Cricket World Cup news, Australia defeated defending champions England by 33 runs, knocking them out of the tournament. Chasing a target of 287, England could only manage 253 in 48.1 overs. Despite a valiant 64 from Ben Stokes, it was their sixth defeat in seven matches, leaving them at the bottom of the table. Australia, on the other hand, secured their fifth straight win and moved closer to securing a semi-final berth alongside India and South Africa.

Spinner Adam Zampa played a key role in Australia’s victory, contributing with both bat and ball. He took three wickets for 21 runs with his leg-spin, dismantling England’s hopes. Despite a couple of partnerships, including a 63-run fifth-wicket stand between Stokes and Moeen Ali, England fell short.

The Cricket World Cup 2023 continues to be an exciting tournament, with teams battling it out for a place in the semi-finals.
