New Technological Service for Managing and Operating Tel Aviv Taxi System Launched

Recently, the deployment of a new technological service for the administration and operation of taxis in Israel has been initiated. The introduction of this service comes as a result of the Gett company winning the Israel Airports Authority tender. The purpose of this tender is to regulate all taxis in Israel using technology, thereby addressing issues such as overcharging tourists and passengers, unauthorized drivers, and unregistered vehicles that may pose a risk to passengers.

Gett, a veteran company with extensive experience in operating a technological marketplace that connects taxi drivers with potential passengers, has accepted the challenge of managing the transportation system at Ben Gurion Airport. Over the past few months, the company has committed significant resources, investing millions of dollars in the development of advanced technological inspection systems that will position Israel at the forefront of global technology. The service, as per the agreement between Rashat and Gett, will be in operation starting from March, and the company has already embarked on the implementation phase.

Application and Advanced Kiosks – A More Efficient and Safer Way to Order a Taxi:

The Gett application allows passengers to sign up for the taxi transportation ordering service swiftly and efficiently, whether it is installed on their mobile device or not. As soon as passengers disembark from the plane, they will be able to scan a Gett QR code, download the app and receive a unique code. After collecting their luggage, they will meet a Gett usher, who will assist them in giving the taxi driver the code to get to their destination. Passengers who choose not to download the application can use the kiosks located throughout the airport to order a taxi in a similar manner. Service attendants equipped with tablet screens will be available to help passengers as needed.

An Advanced Control Room for Managing Taxi Traffic:

The Airports Authority has established a dedicated control room to maintain a high level of service, prevent the build-up of queues, and ensure that there is always an adequate supply of taxis. The control room, which is equipped with advanced technological tools, will be operated by Gett representatives around the clock. They will be responsible for tasks such as supervising the taxi queue, regulating taxis, and more.

Enhancing the Driving Experience and Service Delivery:

Drivers are a crucial element of this new transportation system, and the more advanced and technological tools they are provided with, the better the service they will be able to deliver. The taxi drivers have undergone training, where they were educated about the mandatory rules of conduct. They were also given the opportunity to ask questions and were briefed by a professional team about the system. In addition, they have access to a new complex that can accommodate hundreds of taxi vehicles and a rest lounge equipped for their comfort. The lounge includes a buffet for the drivers to enjoy while they wait for their passengers.

The Airports Authority has stated that the welfare, security, and safety of passengers are its top priorities. The introduction of this new service is just another step in enhancing the passenger service experience.

Mark On, CEO of Gett Israel, has said, “Implementing the technological service for managing and operating the taxi system in Israel is a task of paramount importance for Gett. The company’s team is working tirelessly to plan and create a new service experience for passengers at the national airport, utilizing the most innovative technologies. The service, which has begun operating in a running format, is expected to stabilize while in motion and will ultimately transform the service experience of passengers arriving and departing from Israel.’
