A construction site in Poland has yielded a rare Bronze Age spearhead, according to officials. The artifact was discovered during the leveling of a site in Lubycza Królewska, a small town on the Poland-Ukraine border. The well-preserved flint weapon measures 7 inches in length and shows no visible signs of damage. Experts estimate its age to be between 1990 and 1750 B.C. It is believed to have been crafted by a skilled artisan belonging to the Mierzanowice culture, a society that thrived during the Early Bronze Age in Poland. The Mierzanowice culture is primarily known through its gravesites, which have been found throughout southeastern Poland. These burial sites have revealed shell beads, bone pendants, and ceramic vessels, indicating a sophisticated and intricate culture. Spearheads and other artifacts associated with the Mierzanowice culture are typically found near these gravesites, possibly as offerings for the deceased. The discovery of this spearhead on its own is considered unusual. After further analysis, the flint weapon will be sent to a regional museum.
