Ola EV Sales Surge by 30%, CEO Reveals Team’s Exhausting 70+ Hour Workweek to Fulfill Demand

Ola Electric, under the leadership of CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, has experienced a strong start to the festive season with a 30% increase in sales in October compared to September. Aggarwal attributes this success to the hard work and dedication of his team at the Futurefactory. To meet the rise in demand during the festive season, all employees are now working over 70 hours per week.

The reference to “70 hours a week” is in response to NR Narayana Murthy’s recent comments on India’s work culture, which sparked a controversy on social media. Aggarwal took to X to share the news of their strong start, stating, “Very strong start to the festive season by the @OlaElectric team! Our sales grew almost 30% Oct over Sep! The Futurefactory is running at full speed and everyone working more than 70 hours to fulfill all the demand! 2023 is set to be a defining year for EVs in India.”

This is not the first time Aggarwal has shared positive news about Ola Electric’s performance during the festive season. In a previous tweet, he mentioned that the company was selling an electric scooter “every 10 seconds.”

Ola Electric offers a wide range of five electric scooters in the Indian market. In August, they introduced three new models: S1 Air, S1 Pro Gen2, and S1X, each available in different variants. These models cater to a diverse customer base, with prices ranging from ₹90,000 to ₹1.47 lakh (ex-showroom).

Aggarwal’s dedication to meeting demand can be seen in a tweet where he shared a picture of himself standing outside the factory, stating, “Putting in the hours. Not just 70, more like 140! Only fun, no weekends!”

The success of Ola Electric in the festive season highlights the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India, with 2023 expected to be a significant year for the EV industry.
