Pennsylvania Middle School Counselor Accused of Exploiting Field Trip to Sexually Groom Student

A middle school counselor in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has been accused of raping a 14-year-old student, as per local reports and county records. Kelly Ann Schutte, 35, is now facing felony and misdemeanor charges, including three counts of having intercourse or sexual contact with a student at school, one count of corruption of minors, and three counts of indecent assault of a person under 16 years old, according to Montgomery County records obtained by FOX 29 Philadelphia.

Schutte, who worked as a counselor at Pennridge South Middle School, allegedly began engaging in inappropriate contact with the student at her own home. The incident reportedly took place during a class field trip in the fall of 2022. Following this, Schutte would allegedly call the victim to her office during school hours on a regular basis, as reported by FOX 29.

The suspect and victim are said to have used school apps like Canvas to stay in contact throughout the academic year. When summer break arrived, they allegedly communicated with each other through Snapchat, a social media app known for its disappearing messages feature.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 29, Schutte engaged in sexual conduct with the student in her car outside a supermarket, at her home, and at the victim’s home when his parents were away.

In response to the allegations, Pennridge South Middle School released a statement stating that Schutte had been placed on administrative leave after the school became aware of the alleged misconduct in July 2023.

The school emphasized its strong stance against any inappropriate contact between staff members and students, stating that such behavior would not be tolerated.

Schutte’s attorney, William Joshua Buchanan of Buchanan Law, declined to comment on the allegations against his client at this time.

The investigation into the case was initiated when the boy’s mother contacted 911 to report her belief that Schutte had kissed and inappropriately touched her son.
