PM Modi Connects with Workers Rescued from Uttarakhand Tunnel for a Heartfelt Conversation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the workers who were rescued from a collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand over the phone after the successful operation. All the workers were gathered in a room and had the opportunity to speak with the Prime Minister. Prior to this, PM Modi commended the efforts of the rescue team for safely evacuating the workers.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed his emotions regarding the successful rescue operation and praised the courage and patience of the trapped workers. He also wished them good health and well-being.

The construction of the tunnel, which is part of the Char Dham project, collapsed on November 12. After a long wait, the workers were finally able to reunite with their loved ones, a moment that brought great satisfaction. The Prime Minister acknowledged the families’ patience and courage during this challenging time.

The workers were able to see the “light at the end of the tunnel” thanks to a massive operation by central and state rescue teams, which successfully evacuated them. Rat miners played a crucial role in digging the last 12-meter stretch in less than 24 hours.

The extraction process began at around 8 pm and took approximately an hour to complete. Each worker was brought out on specially modified stretchers through a two-meter-wide pipe inserted into holes drilled into the hillside. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present at the site, embracing the workers as they emerged.

As the first workers emerged from the tunnel, they were greeted with garlands, sweets, and cheers from the rescue personnel and those at the site. The families of the trapped workers were overjoyed to finally reunite with their loved ones after 17 days.

The rescued workers were transported to emergency medical facilities in Chinyalisaur, around 30 km away, in 41 ambulances. Each worker had their own dedicated ambulance for transportation.

Overall, the successful rescue operation brought relief and happiness to everyone involved, signaling the end of a challenging ordeal for the workers and their families.
