An arrest has been made in connection with a series of fraud and theft cases at a car dealership in Columbus, with losses totaling over $800,000. The Columbus Police Department began their investigation into Sports and Imports, located on Veterans Parkway, earlier this year after receiving numerous complaints regarding fraudulent activities linked to the dealership. According to a news release, an extensive police probe unveiled a staggering sum of $819,052.77 lost due to these illegal activities. Additionally, police discovered that several vehicles had been misappropriated with multiple loans attached to them, which further compounded the issue.
The authorities have apprehended a suspect named Sama Moore, a 59-year-old individual who is currently being held at the Lee County Jail in Alabama. She is awaiting extradition to Columbus to face a multitude of charges, including five counts of identity fraud, nine counts of felony theft by conversion, eight counts of felony theft by taking, four counts of felony theft by deception, four counts of felony deposit account fraud, and eight counts of forgery in the first degree. The arrest of Moore marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, providing hope for justice for the victims who fell prey to these fraudulent schemes.
