The police sub-inspector accused of raping a minor girl in Rajasthan’s Dausa district has been dismissed from service and arrested, following the registration of a case against him under the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act. The termination letter was issued by IG Umesh Datta, and the officer was suspended and detained on Friday. The opposition BJP criticized the Congress government, accusing them of prioritizing the protection of rapists over the safety of women. Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra condemned the incident and instructed the DGP to take strict action. The incident sparked protests, with locals surrounding the police station and assaulting the sub-inspector. An FIR has been registered, and the case is being investigated by an additional SP-rank officer. BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena visited the spot and demanded justice for the minor. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted several cases of atrocities against women and children, alleging that rapists have confidence in Rajasthan due to the lack of action. Governor Mishra emphasized the need for proper arrangements for law and order and public safety.
