A video capturing a heated encounter between a Republican poll greeter and a voter in Arlington on Election Day has quickly gained traction online, amassing over five million video views. The footage shows the voter approaching Matthew Hurtt, a poll worker and the director of professional services at the Leadership Institute.
In the viral video, the man expresses his frustration, accusing Hurtt and his colleagues of attempting to overturn the election. He passionately asserts, “You guys tried to overturn the election, you might as well have been walking up to my head on the way to the polling station and putting a gun to my head and trying to tell me not to vote. You try to steal my vote next year, I’m going to… remember you personally.”
Hurtt had been distributing Republican sample ballots outside a polling place on N. Taft Street when he encountered the disgruntled voter. Sensing the potential intensity of the situation, Hurtt decided to start recording. He later shared his account of the incident on X, previously known as Twitter, stating, “The guy started before he went in, and I assumed he would keep it going when he came out, so I hit record. I have filed a police report.”
Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
