After years of being vacant and falling into disrepair, plans are finally underway to give Overland Park’s Incred-A-Bowl a much-needed makeover. The former hub for laser tag, miniature golf, and arcade games is set to undergo a complete transformation. One tenant, Beastified, a gym and supplement store, has already taken over 8,500 square feet on the first floor and is currently undergoing construction.
Beastified, owned by competitive bodybuilder Sid Balakrishnan, specializes in selling pre-workout, protein, and other muscle-building supplements for gym enthusiasts. Balakrishnan, originally from California, aims to bring a quality gym focused on strength training to the Kansas City area. He prides himself on offering top-of-the-line equipment not found elsewhere in the metro, including dumbbells ranging from five to 200 pounds.
While construction delays have hindered the gym’s opening, Balakrishnan remains hopeful that his passion project will be ready soon. He looks forward to the day when all businesses in the building are up and running. In addition to Beastified, Balakrishnan’s wife, Korey Balakrishnan, owns a yoga studio called The Sweat Vault near the original Beastified location.
The building’s owner, Dr. Paramjeet Sabharwal, a surgeon at MISH Hospital and Clinics in Lenexa, has considered various ideas for the building’s appearance. Balakrishnan reveals that the exterior may soon feature a white marble look, adding an elegant and luxurious touch that complements the sleek design of his new gym.
Furthermore, plans are in progress for a bar and restaurant on the opposite side of the building. Balakrishnan mentions his limited involvement in this concept and refrains from providing specific details about its plans. The building’s new look and the restaurant and bar concept are still pending approval from the city.
Danny Jackson, a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, and his wife, Mary, originally opened Incred-A-Bowl in 1997 despite initial controversy surrounding the arcade’s late-night hours. The entertainment center went on to serve as a venue for birthday parties and family outings for over a decade before filing for bankruptcy in the summer before its closure.
As the plans for the revitalization of Incred-A-Bowl progress, the once-vacant and dilapidated space is set to become an exciting new destination for fitness enthusiasts, yoga practitioners, and those looking to enjoy a bar and restaurant experience in Overland Park.
