Shivraj Chouhan Opens Up About Being a Contender for Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s Post

After the BJP’s resounding victory in the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made it clear that he has never sought or desired the chief ministerial post. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not project any candidate for the chief minister’s role in the 2023 Assembly elections.

In the recently concluded elections, the BJP secured a staggering 163 out of the 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, while the Congress managed to win 66 seats, and the Bharat Adivasi Party secured one seat.

In a video statement shared on his official social media account, Mr. Chouhan expressed his dedication and loyalty to the BJP. He stated, “I have never aspired to be the chief minister in the past, and I do not aspire for it now. As a party worker, I have always carried out my assigned duties with utmost dedication, sincerity, and honesty.”

Having served as Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister four times previously, Mr. Chouhan considers himself fortunate to be a part of the BJP. He expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “I am fortunate to have Narendra Modi ji as our leader and to have had the opportunity to work with him. Under Modi ji’s leadership, India is progressing towards becoming a glorious, prosperous, and powerful nation.”

Expressing his gratitude to the voters, Mr. Chouhan acknowledged the unprecedented support the BJP received. He thanked the people for their trust and faith in the party.
