The Indoor World Championships is a significant event in the sporting calendar. This year it will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from March 1 to March 3. Spain has confirmed that it will be sending a team of 20 athletes to compete in the Championships. The team is comprised of 13 women and 7 men, including some notable names in the world of athletics.
Among these athletes is Olympic medalist Ana Peleteiro and long-distance runner Marta García. Their inclusion was pending due to the World Ranking system, but now it has been confirmed that they will be part of the Spanish team. Nine athletes were waiting for the closure of the World Ranking system to know if they had secured a place. Coach José Peiró had stated last Tuesday that these athletes had a strong chance of making it to the team. Now, it has been made official, and all nine athletes have made it to the team.
Ana Peleteiro, the Olympic bronze medalist in the triple jump and the 2018 world indoor champion, is one of the highlights of the team. She will be joined by Marta García, the Spanish record holder and national 3,000 m indoor champion. The team also includes Águeda Marqués, the Spanish runner-up in 3,000 m, Fátima Diame who specializes in length, eight-centirists Lorena Martín and Lorea Ibarzabal, sprinters Maribel Pérez (60 m) and Eva Santidrián (400 m), and sprinter Sergio López (60 m).
