Sreesanth Furious at Gautam Gambhir’s Instagram Post, Questions His Superiority over the Supreme Court

Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth, former Indian cricket team stars, found themselves in a heated on-field altercation during the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament on Thursday. The clash escalated into a war of words, with Sreesanth claiming that Gambhir had called him a “fixer” during the fight. In response, Gambhir took to social media and posted an old picture of himself with the caption – “Smile when the world is all about attention!” While some of Gambhir’s former teammates showed their support, Sreesanth expressed his own views in the comments section of the post.

Sreesanth accused Gambhir of exceeding the boundaries of a sportsman and a brother, emphasizing that as a public figure, Gambhir should avoid conflicts with fellow cricketers. Sreesanth questioned Gambhir’s authority to label him a fixer and criticized his lack of respect for those who had supported him. He also highlighted Gambhir’s verbal abuse towards umpires and himself, countering Gambhir’s claim of smiling on the field. Sreesanth concluded by stating that he had always respected Gambhir and his family, but after being subjected to derogatory remarks and provocations, forgiveness was unlikely.

In response to the incident, LLC released a statement declaring that they will conduct an internal investigation regarding the code of conduct violation. The league emphasized their commitment to upholding the spirit of cricket and sportsmanship and stated that strict actions will be taken against any misconduct both on and off the field, including on social media platforms. LLC’s Head of Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee, Syed Kirmani, reiterated their dedication to preserving the league’s reputation and ensuring that players who bring disrepute to the game and their teams will face consequences. The CEO of LLC, Raman Raheja, added that appropriate action will be taken against the breach of contract.

LLC expressed disappointment that the incident had diverted attention from the otherwise exciting season, where national and international legends play together for their respective teams. They emphasized their focus on the league itself and entrusted the ASCU and Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee to handle the internal investigation and subsequent actions.

Sreesanth also accused Gambhir of mistreating other players. It is worth noting that Sreesanth was involved in the spot-fixing scandal in 2013 while playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He, along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, was arrested by the Delhi Police. The BCCI imposed a life ban on Sreesanth, which was upheld by the Kerala High Court. However, the Supreme Court overturned the ban in March 2019 and instructed the BCCI to reconsider Sreesanth’s plea.
