India vs Australia: Suryakumar Yadav Praises Teammates for Taking Responsibility in Win
Following India’s impressive 44-run victory over Australia in the second T20I, captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed his admiration for his teammates, stating that they are taking responsibility well. The Men in Blue put on another dominant performance, with standout performances from Prasidh Krishna, Ravi Bishnoi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Led by three-wicket hauls from Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi, along with fifties from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, India secured a comfortable victory over Australia in the second T20I of the five-match series in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Yadav emphasized the team’s collective effort, saying, “The boys aren’t putting too much pressure on me, they’re taking responsibility. I told them before the toss to be prepared to bat first. There was a lot of dew after three overs, told the boys to back themselves. When I saw Rinku in the last game, the composure was brilliant.”
With the win, India now leads the series 2-0.
In the match, Australia elected to field first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the batting and both scored half-centuries. Jaiswal made 53 runs off 25 balls, including nine fours and two sixes, while Gaikwad contributed 58 runs off 43 balls, with three fours and two sixes. The opening partnership between them reached 77 runs. Ishan Kishan also played a crucial role, scoring 52 runs off 32 balls, including three fours and four sixes.
Australia’s Nathan Ellis (3/45) and Marcus Stoinis (1/27) were the pick of the bowlers.
In their chase of 236, Australia had a disastrous start and found themselves at 58/4. However, a partnership of 81 runs between Marcus Stoinis and Tim David revived their hopes temporarily. Stoinis scored 45 runs off 25 balls, with two fours and four sixes, while David contributed 37 runs off 22 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. Despite their efforts, a strong comeback by the Men in Blue limited Australia to 191/9 in 20 overs.
