Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s controversial statements regarding women’s education and population control have been defended by his deputy, Tejashwi Yadav. Yadav argued that Kumar was referring to sex education taught in schools and that his comments should not be misinterpreted.
During a session in the state assembly, Kumar used language that was deemed “vulgar” and derogatory” when discussing women’s education. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized him for his inappropriate remarks.
Kumar made these comments while explaining the decrease in Bihar’s fertility rate from 4.2 to 2.9 percent.
Tejashwi Yadav quickly clarified the intent behind Kumar’s remarks after a video of them went viral and received severe criticism on social media. Yadav stated that Kumar was referring to sex education, a topic taught in schools as part of science and biology. Yadav emphasized that Kumar was discussing practical measures to control the population and that his comments should be understood in the context of sex education.
The BJP has launched a scathing attack on Kumar, labeling him as the most vulgar leader in politics. The party’s Hindi tweet suggested that Kumar’s mind is influenced by “B” grade adult films and called for a ban on his double-meaning comments.
The controversy surrounding Kumar’s comments has ignited a debate on the importance of women’s education and the appropriate language to use when discussing such topics.
