Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Admitted to Hospital Following Fall, Surgery Possible

Former Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, has been hospitalized after sustaining a fall at his home in Hyderabad. Doctors suspect that he may have suffered a hip fracture and may require surgery. KCR was taken to Yashoda Hospital late at night. It is reported that he had been meeting people at his home for the past three days.

K Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, served as the Chief Minister of Telangana from 2014 until 2023. However, in the recently concluded Assembly Elections, the Congress defeated his party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). KCR fought from two seats in Telangana, winning the Gajwel seat but losing to Kamareddy. BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy emerged victorious in the Kamareddy seat, defeating both KCR and Revanth Reddy.

Following the election results, Congress’ Revanth Reddy was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Telangana, along with 11 ministers. The Congress party secured 64 seats out of the 119-member Telangana assembly, while BRS only managed to win 39 seats. This defeat marked the first loss for BRS since the formation of Telangana in 2014.

During the election campaign, the Congress party emphasized its welfare schemes for the poor. However, the implementation of some of these schemes gave MLAs excessive power to decide the allocation of funds, leading to allegations of discrimination and corruption.
