Police in Texas made a disturbing discovery at a residence after school officials raised concerns about a missing child. According to a news release from the Houston Police Department, on Tuesday, November 14th, an 8-year-old student was left waiting for a ride home that never arrived. When school staff realized that nobody had come to pick up the child, officers from the Houston Independent School District went to the parents’ home on the city’s southwest side but were unable to locate them.
Concerned about the potentially dangerous situation, Houston police officers arrived at the residence around 8 p.m. and decided to enter the premises. Inside, they discovered the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman. The woman was found lying on the dining room floor, with evidence of blunt force trauma and wounds to her neck. The man was discovered dead in another room of the house.
While an investigation is still ongoing, authorities believe that the man and woman may have died in a murder-suicide, according to a statement from the police department. The child has been placed under the custody of Harris County Child Protective Services.
