A policeman was killed in a targeted attack by terrorists at his home in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir. This incident marks the third targeted attack in the Valley within the span of three days.

The victim, Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar, was shot inside his home in Karalpora village. He was critically injured and rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Jammu and Kashmir police expressed their condolences, stating, “The injured police personnel succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom. We pay our rich tributes to the martyr and stand by his family in this critical juncture. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation is currently underway.”

The village has been sealed off, and authorities have initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers.

In a separate incident, a migrant laborer was killed in Pulwama the day before. Additionally, a police inspector, Masroor Ahmad Wani, was shot and injured while playing cricket in the Eidgah area of Srinagar on Sunday.

In response to these attacks, security forces have heightened vehicle and pedestrian checks in Pulwama and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Mobile vehicle checkpoints have been established at major intersections and exit points in Srinagar.

Last week, the Union Territory witnessed a significant violation of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. In the Arnia sector along the border, unprovoked firing and mortar shelling resulted in a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel being injured. The incident led to several villagers fleeing their homes due to mortar shell impacts on residential areas.
