Tihar Jail Axes 50 Staff Members over Biometric Discrepancy

Tihar Jail Terminates 50 Employees Due to Biometric Mismatch

The Tihar Jail administration has taken the decision to terminate 50 of its employees after a recent verification drive revealed a discrepancy in their biometric identification records, officials announced on Saturday.

Out of the 50 employees facing termination, 39 are warders, 9 are assistant superintendents, and 2 are matrons, according to the Tihar Jail administration. The termination notice was issued in compliance with the instructions of the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSB), which conducted the examinations and hired approximately 450 candidates for these three positions, officials added.

It was discovered that the biometric identification of 50 of the 450 employees did not match with their records, prompting the administration to serve them with termination notices. Officials suspect that someone else might have taken the exams on their behalf.

All of the terminated employees were serving on a two-year probation period, the officials explained. They have been given one month to respond to the termination notice.
