Top Manager at Consulting Giant Faces Gross Tax Fraud Charges in Finland, Denies Allegations

Olof Schybergson, a Finnish national who works as an international manager at the consulting firm Accenture, has been charged with severe tax fraud in Finland. Despite residing in New York and Britain for several years, the charges relate to events that took place in Finland in the fall of 2014. The charges were filed in Helsinki district court in January.

Although the details of the indictment have not yet been made public, a conviction for severe tax fraud typically involves significant financial gain or a crime that was committed in a particularly planned manner. The tax evasion as a whole must also be considered outrageous.

Schybergson denies the allegations, stating, “I deny that I have committed a crime”. He did not provide any further comments on the matter, stating, “I cannot comment. This is my private matter.”

It is important to note that Schybergson has been living abroad since 2013, following the sale of his service design company, Fjordin, to Accenture. That year, he made 4.28 million euros in taxable capital and earnings.

In 2021, Schybergson was appointed as Accenture’s first-ever Chief Experience Officer, or design director. He gained fame in Finland in the early 2000s when he co-founded Fjord, a company specialising in service design that aimed to make digital services as user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing as possible. Accenture acquired Fjord in 2013 and Schybergson continued as its director.

Before his time with Fjord and Accenture, Schybergson worked with the renowned company Razorfish, which produced digital services. He eventually became the creative director of Razorfish in the U.S.
