A 10-year-old boy, the son of a senior police officer, was tragically killed by a speeding SUV while practicing skating in Lucknow. The incident occurred in the upscale Gomti Nagar Extension area of the city early in the morning. The vehicle immediately fled the scene after hitting the child, but two individuals have since been arrested after an extensive investigation.
The victim, named Namish and the son of Additional Superintendent of Police Shweta Shrivastava, was skating near a park when the white SUV struck him at around 5:30 am on Tuesday. Despite immediate medical attention, Namish was pronounced dead at the hospital.
To apprehend the SUV and identify the driver, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashish Srivastava mobilized five teams to investigate the case. Fortunately, the police managed to locate the vehicle by analyzing footage from nearby CCTV cameras at Janeshwar Mishra park, where the tragic incident unfolded.
According to reports from the news agency PTI, the SUV has been successfully traced, and authorities have arrested two individuals, Sarthak Singh and Devshri Verma, in connection with the incident.
Prior to this tragedy, Shweta Shrivastava was serving at the Gomti Nagar police station but had been transferred to a special investigation team as an additional superintendent of police.
