The Ukrainian armed forces reported an incident that took place on the night of February 13, where they claim that the Russian side launched an attack on Ukrainian territory using unmanned aircrafts, also known as drones.
In a detailed report provided by the Ukrainian military, they stated that the thermal power plant located in the city of Dnipro was damaged as a result of this attack. This unfortunate event consequently caused a part of the city to be left without essential services such as electricity and water, thus causing a disruption in the daily lives of its residents.
Upon being attacked, the Ukrainian armed forces sprung into action and were able to shoot down 16 out of the 23 Shahed drones that were reportedly in the Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions. However, the status and location of the remaining 8 Air Traffic Services (ATSs) are currently unreported.
Boris Filatov, who holds the position of mayor in the city of Dnipro, made a public announcement condemning the actions of the Russian military. He accused them of targeting civilian infrastructure, a claim that the Russian side has vehemently and repeatedly denied. Despite the denials, the damage to the thermal power plant and the subsequent loss of electricity and water supply to a part of the city stands as a stark reminder of the impact of such attacks on civilian life.
