A town in Uttar Pradesh, India, has been left in shock after a doctor allegedly murdered his wife and two children before taking his own life. Dr. Arun Kumar, an eye specialist working for the Railways, was suffering from depression, according to police.
The incident took place in the Railways colony in Rae Bareli, where Dr. Kumar lived with his family. They were last seen on Sunday, and when they couldn’t be reached for two days, the doctor’s colleagues went to their home. Upon receiving no response, they broke open the door and discovered the bodies of Dr. Kumar, his wife Archana, and their two children, Adiva and Aarav. Police were immediately informed, and senior officers arrived at the scene.
The crime scene revealed a hammer, blood stains, and drug injections. Police believe that the doctor administered drugs to his family members to make them unconscious before killing them with blows to their heads. Dr. Kumar initially attempted to slit his wrists but eventually died by hanging himself. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected from the post-mortem examination.
Neighbors and colleagues of Dr. Kumar expressed shock and disbelief at the tragedy. They described him as a kind and caring person but mentioned that he had occasional outbursts of aggression. Authorities are looking into all possible motives and angles of the incident.
