India’s fielding coach T Dilip has been receiving praise for his innovative methods of recognizing the best fielder of the match in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. After India’s impressive 243-run victory over South Africa at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, captain Rohit Sharma was awarded the Fielder of the Match medal.
Rohit showcased his exceptional fielding skills and contributed to the team’s strong start with the bat, scoring a stunning 40 runs off just 24 deliveries. As he was announced as the medal winner, his teammates Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan congratulated him, and Shreyas Iyer presented him with the medal.
In a video posted by the BCCI, Dilip praised the team’s commitment and quoted, “The strength of our whole team is each member. We have a new entry today. Suryakumar Yadav showed fantastic quickness and effort on the field.”
Dilip has been creative in presenting the medals to his players, with the anticipation building up before the winner is revealed. He emphasized that the medal is not just about catching or runouts but about the impact a player makes on the team. Rohit’s tactical awareness and outstanding fielding performance made him deserving of the medal.
India’s next challenge in the ICC World Cup 2023 is against the Netherlands in their final league stage match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
