World Cup: Pakistan’s Babar Azam-led Team Skips Hotel Dinner, Opts for Online Food Delivery Instead

Pakistan cricket team indulged in Kolkata’s famous biryani, kebabs, and chap ahead of their ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens Stadium. Instead of having dinner at their team hotel, the “Men in Green” decided to order food from Zam Zam Restaurant in Kolkata through an online food delivery platform. Shadman Faize, the Director of the restaurant, revealed that they initially had no idea that the order was from the Pakistan cricket team.

Kolkata is renowned for its own style of biryani, which is famous worldwide. The team ordered three dishes – biryani, kebabs, and chap – on Sunday evening after 7 PM. Shadman expressed his hope that the team enjoyed their meal and encouraged people from all nationalities to try their food.

However, the team’s dietary habits have faced criticism from iconic pacer and former skipper Wasim Akram. Akram criticized the team for their lethargic on-field performance after their loss to Afghanistan. During a post-match show on a Pakistan-based sports channel, Akram pointed out the players’ fitness levels, suggesting that they seemed to be consuming excessive amounts of meat.

Pakistan’s chances of progressing further in the World Cup seem unlikely as they currently occupy the 7th position in the points table with four losses and two wins. Their opponents in the upcoming match, Bangladesh, are placed at number 9 on the table.
