Xiaomi Ignites MWC in Barcelona with Global Launch of Flagship 14 Series

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) has been stirred up by the unexpected yet striking presence of Xiaomi. The Asian manufacturer has chosen Barcelona as the international launching pad for its Xiaomi 14 Series. This series is Xiaomi’s strategic move to establish a firm footing in the ‘premium’ category. The company aims to achieve this by leveraging the remarkable features of this series such as its camera, performance, and battery.

The top executives of Xiaomi from all around the globe congregated for this event. The key highlights of the event were the unveiling of Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra. These two high-end mobile phones will soon be available in the Spanish market. The price range for these phones starts from 999 euros for the basic model, which boasts 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. On the other hand, the ‘top of the range’ model with a storage capacity of 16+512GB is priced at 1,499 euros.

Under its attention-grabbing motto ‘Lens to legend’, Xiaomi has put a spotlight on the innovative camera of these smartphones. Developed in collaboration with the photography giant Leica, the camera is expected to be a game-changer. Xiaomi is confident that these two new smartphones can cut into the market share of Apple and Samsung in the high-end terminal category. Xiaomi has already become the top-selling brand in Spain in terms of the volume of units sold.

THE ULTRA MODEL: IN SEARCH OF THE PERFECT CAMERA

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra doubles as a camera and a mobile phone. Its standout specs are its screen, battery, and performance. However, its camera is the real star of the show. The set of lenses it comes with is the most versatile that the company has ever proposed. It features a circular module that includes four lenses with 50 MP sensors, two of which are angular and two are telephoto lenses.

This mobile phone comes with a main camera, a one-inch sensor, a focal length of 23 mm, and an aperture of f/1.62. Additionally, it includes a 12 mm wide angle and f/1.8 lens and a double telephoto lens. In order to maximize the photographic experience, the performance of the mobile phone is pivotal. To meet this requirement, the phone is equipped with the Snapfragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 6.67-inch AMOLED Liquid Display panel. The screen also comes with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a luminosity peak of 3,000 nits. This ensures clear visibility of photographs even under direct sunlight.

As for video recording, it can record in 8K at 30 fps with all its lenses and 4K 60 fps with its main camera. It has also improved its stabilization system and introduced a cinematic mode. To ensure that users can record video and take photos without worrying about battery life, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 90W fast charge feature. This feature promises a full charge in 31 minutes, and the charger is included in the box for both models.

THE XIAOMI 14 COMMITS TO BALANCE

The entry model, Xiaomi 14, is also packed with impressive specifications. It’s expected to be the preferred choice for many brand fans due to its quality-price ratio. Additionally, there’s a launch offer in Spain until March 18, which includes a Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet worth 399 euros as a gift.

The Xiaomi 14 comes with a 6.36-inch screen, which allows for easy grip. It shares many features with the Ultra model such as its adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, the maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, and its 90W fast charging system. However, it has a slightly smaller battery of 4,610 mAh. As for wireless charging, it reaches 50W compared to 80W for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

The Xiaomi 14 also incorporates the new generation of lenses co-designed with Leica. These lenses, called Summilux, provide an extra level of brightness by allowing an f/1.6 diaphragm aperture. The camera module includes three lenses: a main 50 MP and 23mm lens, a 75mm telephoto lens, and a 14mm wide-angle lens. This is further supplemented by a new image sensor, Light Fusion 900.

Xiaomi also took this opportunity to announce the launch of the Xiaomi Smart Band 8, Xiaomi Watch 2, and Xiaomi Watch S3. These are the latest additions to its product ecosystem and will soon be available in the Spanish market. The company will soon be adding its first electric car, Xiaomi SU7, to this ecosystem. This car will operate under the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system and aims to ensure a 360º connection of all connected devices, with the car as a crucial component.
