Yulia Navalnaya to Participate in EU Foreign Affairs Council Meeting

The European Union’s High Commissioner for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, has confirmed that Yulia Navalnaya, the bereaved spouse of the recently deceased Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, is set to participate in an upcoming meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. This meeting is scheduled to take place on the 19th of February.

In a post on the social media platform Kh, Borrell wrote, “On Monday, I will have the honor of welcoming Yulia Navalnaya to a meeting of the Council. This serves as a clear and tangible manifestation of our ministers’ unwavering support for those bravely fighting for freedom in Russia. At this meeting, we will also pay tribute and honor the memory of Alexei Navalny.”

It’s worth noting that Yulia Navalnaya recently delivered a poignant speech at the Munich Security Conference. She expressed her desire for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his close allies to be held accountable for their actions. “I fervently wish for Putin and his circle to be held responsible for the destruction they have inflicted upon our country, for the sorrow they have brought to my family, and for the unfathomable pain they have caused my husband,” she fervently stated.

Navalny, a prominent figure in Russia’s opposition scene, tragically passed away on February 16. He was serving time in Correctional Colony No. 3, located in the remote polar village of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Adding to the grief of his family and supporters, the authorities have refused to release his body to his loved ones, further exacerbating their pain and sorrow.
