7 Arrested in Haryana as 19 Lose Lives Due to Consumption of Toxic Liquor

Nineteen people have tragically lost their lives in Haryana, India after consuming toxic liquor. In response to the incident, villagers are demanding action against liquor dealers, and authorities have arrested seven individuals, including the sons of a Congress leader and a Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader.

The deaths occurred in multiple villages, namely Mandebari, Panjeto Ka Majra, Phoosgarh, and Saran, located in Yamunanagar and neighboring Ambala district. Opposition parties have criticized the state government led by Manohar Lal Khattar, accusing it of failing to learn from previous incidents of a similar nature.

Ravinder, whose father is one of the victims, shared his grief, stating that his father had died from alcohol poisoning. He disclosed that his father was addicted to alcohol but usually consumed a small amount. Tragically, he had been drinking with friends who had also succumbed to alcohol poisoning in the past.

Currently, the police have apprehended seven suspects and are conducting raids to capture more individuals involved. However, due to fear for their lives, villagers are hesitant to openly condemn these liquor dealers.

Expressing concern, one villager stated, “I am afraid. Our lives could be in danger if we raise our voices.”

In a separate incident, two migrant laborers from Uttar Pradesh also lost their lives in Ambala after consuming suspected spurious liquor produced illegally in the district. The police are actively investigating the manufacturing timeline of the accused and their potential accomplices. Additionally, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the Yamunanagar Police to further probe the case.

The community and authorities are eagerly awaiting further developments in this tragic incident.
