Former Microsoft Intern, Radhika Gupta, Commends Satya Nadella for Exceptional Leadership

Former Microsoft intern Radhika Gupta has praised Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella for his “wartime leadership” during the OpenAI saga. After Sam Altman was reappointed as the CEO of OpenAI, Nadella welcomed him back and emphasized the importance of building a more stable and effective governance structure for the company. Gupta took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her admiration for Nadella’s leadership, stating that his actions demonstrated qualities that cannot be taught in a management class but can be learned by every CEO. She also thanked him for his leadership during this time.

Gupta, who worked as a Program Manager Intern for Microsoft Office in 2003 and 2004, praised Nadella in response to his post about working with mission-driven individuals. She highlighted the calm and resolute attitude of both OpenAI and Microsoft employees in pursuing their respective missions despite the challenges they faced.

In the midst of the OpenAI upheaval, the board that fired Altman has undergone significant changes, with only Adam D’Angelo, the CEO of Quora, remaining from the previous board. Joining D’Angelo are Bret Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce, and Larry Summers, former US Treasury Secretary and president of Harvard University.

Overall, Nadella’s leadership during the OpenAI saga has garnered praise from Gupta and others, highlighting his ability to navigate challenging situations and inspire those around him.
