In a shocking incident in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a 20-year-old engineering student attacked a bus conductor with a meat-cutting knife following a dispute over the ticket fare. The incident occurred on Friday morning when the accused, identified as Lareb Hashmi, assaulted the conductor, causing injuries to his neck and other body parts.
According to the bus driver, Mangala Yadav, he heard a sound and discovered that the conductor had been attacked. The driver immediately stopped the bus and rushed the injured conductor to the hospital. The conductor’s condition is reported to be stable.
After the attack, Hashmi fled the scene and sought refuge in his college campus. However, the police were able to locate him and apprehend him from the college premises. But the situation took a dangerous turn when the police took him back to recover the knife used in the attack. Hashmi managed to escape and pulled out a gun from his bag, firing at the officers.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, Hashmi sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. He was eventually captured by the police and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. An official stated that the police had initially arrested Hashmi and were questioning him when he opened fire on the officers during the knife recovery operation.
