Tech entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk arrived in Tel Aviv on Monday for a two-day visit to Israel. During his visit, Musk met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and toured a kibbutz that was destroyed by Hamas during an attack on October 7. Mr. Netanyahu provided Musk with briefings on the attack and showed him photographs taken in the aftermath.
The prime minister shared a picture of Musk on the tour, captioning it, “I toured Kibbutz Kfar Gaza with Elon Musk to show him up close the crimes against humanity committed by Hamas.” In the photo, Musk can be seen wearing a protective vest and surrounded by security personnel.
Musk also visited the residence of Ofir Libstein, the community’s security chief who was killed by Hamas. Additionally, he heard the story of 4-year-old Avigail Idan, an Israeli-American who was recently freed from Gaza through a hostage negotiation.
During his meeting with Netanyahu, Musk expressed his shock at the scene of the massacre. It’s worth noting that Musk has faced criticism from civil rights groups for allegedly amplifying anti-Jewish hatred on his social media platform, X. Several major brands, including Disney and IBM, have stopped advertising on the platform due to concerns that ads were appearing alongside pro-Nazi content.
In response to these accusations, Musk has stated that he is against antisemitism and any content that promotes hate and conflict. He reiterated that X does not support hate speech.
Musk’s visit to Israel and his tour of the kibbutz destroyed by Hamas aimed to provide him with firsthand insight into the impact of the attack and the ongoing conflict in the region.
