LLC Organisers Will Conduct an Official Investigation into the Gautam Gambhir-Sreesanth Row

Surat (Gujarat): Following an incident between Gujarat Giants player Sreesanth and India Capitals skipper Gautam Gambhir during a match at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Legends League Cricket (LLC) has made its stance clear on upholding the spirit of the game. A video of the argument between the two former Indian players emerged on Thursday morning, showing Gambhir and Sreesanth engaged in a heated exchange. Other players and the umpire had to intervene to separate them.

In response to the argument, Sreesanth accused Gambhir of calling him a “fixer.” He posted a video on Instagram, stating that Gambhir had used abusive language towards him on live TV. Sreesanth maintained that he did not use any abusive words and simply questioned Gambhir’s remarks. He also mentioned that Gambhir had used similar language towards the umpires.

While Gambhir has not directly addressed the incident, he posted a cryptic tweet on Thursday. The tweet came hours after the video of the argument surfaced on social media.

Legends League Cricket released a statement regarding the altercation, confirming that they will conduct an internal investigation into the violation of the code of conduct. The league emphasized its commitment to upholding the spirit of cricket and sportsmanship and stated that necessary action would be taken against those who have violated the league’s rules.

Head of Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee, Syed Kirmani, reiterated the league’s stance and mentioned that any misconduct, both on and off the field, including on social media, would be dealt with strictly. Raman Raheja, CEO of Legends League Cricket, emphasized that players are bound by certain terms related to misconduct, and appropriate action will be taken as per the codes of conduct laid down by the committee.

Legends League Cricket expressed its disappointment that the incident has diverted attention from an otherwise exciting season. The league stated that it will focus on the internal investigation and let the ASCU and Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee handle the subsequent action.

In addition to the argument, Sreesanth accused Gambhir of behaving poorly with other players as well. It is worth noting that Sreesanth was involved in the spot-fixing scandal in 2013 while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He, along with two other players, was arrested and subsequently banned by the BCCI. However, the Supreme Court overturned the ban in March 2019 and asked the BCCI to reconsider Sreesanth’s plea.
