Donald Trump Jr. appeared in court on Wednesday for his father’s civil fraud trial in New York City. The New York Attorney General’s office questioned him about the alleged falsification of the Trump Organization’s financial statements, which prosecutors claim were used to inflate the value of Donald Trump’s properties. Don Jr., sporting a deep tan, arrived at Manhattan Supreme Court and was met by a swarm of photographers and news crews. His testimony followed that of a banking expert who testified that the Trump Organization received over $168 million under loan terms that were manipulated by inflating asset values. New York State Attorney General Leticia James observed the proceedings from the front row. Don Jr. described himself as a licensed real estate broker and an executive vice president at the Trump Organization. He stated that he relies on accountants’ opinions to make assessments and was familiar with the acronym “GAAP” from his accounting studies in the late 90s. The lawsuit alleges that Trump’s adult children, including Ivanka, were intimately involved in the family business. Ivanka has been subpoenaed to testify but her lawyers filed a notice of appeal claiming she should not be compelled to appear since she is no longer named in the suit and resides in Florida.
