Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Caste Census

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of being deceitful and betraying him. He urged the public to refrain from voting for Congress leaders in the upcoming elections. Speaking at a public rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Jatara constituency, Yadav labeled the Congress as a “cunning” party, claiming that it only supported the caste census for the sake of votes. He also predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would eventually back the caste-based census due to voter demands.

During the rally, Yadav criticized the current Madhya Pradesh government for its poor infrastructure and lack of women’s safety. He questioned the effectiveness of Prime Minister Modi’s free ration scheme, stating that if people were not receiving any benefits, why should they vote for the BJP. Yadav went on to brand the BJP as a “loot-tantrik” government.

Yadav is currently on a three-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, which is preparing for the upcoming state elections. His party, the Samajwadi Party, has fielded candidates for 72 seats in the state.

Expressing his disappointment with the Congress, Yadav stated that he was unsure whether the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) was intended to challenge the BJP at the national or state level. He criticized the Congress for not granting seats to the Samajwadi Party in Madhya Pradesh and declared that his party would contest the elections independently. Yadav expressed concerns about the confusion surrounding the alliance and questioned who would stand with the Congress if they continued to behave in such a manner.

The war of words within the grand alliance escalated as Congress leader Ajay Rai urged the Samajwadi Party to withdraw from Madhya Pradesh in favor of the Congress, claiming that the Samajwadi Party had no presence in the state. This further fueled the ongoing dispute within the alliance, with Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stating that the Congress was more focused on the state assembly elections in five states rather than advancing the I.N.D.I.A. bloc. Nitish Kumar assured that the coalition’s meetings would resume after the elections in the five states.

In response to the criticism, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan mocked the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, claiming that it had disintegrated even before its formation. Chouhan accused the Congress of prioritizing their own interests and family members, particularly former Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s focus on promoting her children Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

The assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled for November 17, 2023. The results will be announced on December 3, along with the elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Telangana.
