GOP Representative Goes on Outrageous Tirade, Promoting Baseless “Ghost Buses” Conspiracy Theory During FBI Jan. 6 Hearing

During a Homeland Security Committee hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Clay Higgins accused the FBI of secret involvement in the January 6 attack. Higgins referred to a previous exchange with FBI Director Christopher Wray, where he asked whether there were confidential human sources dressed as Trump supporters inside the Capitol before the doors were opened. Higgins argued that despite a “tremendous amount of evidence,” they couldn’t get a straight answer from Wray.

Higgins pressed Wray again, this time asking if the FBI had confidential human sources at the Stop the Steal rally in D.C. on January 6th. However, Wray responded by saying, “I’m not going to get into where we have or have not used confidential human sources.” Higgins repeatedly interrupted Wray, insisting it was time to move on.

Wray tried to answer the question, but Higgins cut him off and cited a quote from an alleged “FBI informant” who claimed to have been instructed to storm the Capitol with the Proud Boys. Higgins then asked Wray if the FBI had agents embedded in the crowd on January 6th. Wray emphatically denied that the violence at the Capitol was part of an FBI operation.

Higgins then brought up the topic of “ghost buses” filled with alleged informants, claiming that they were used for secret purposes. He described two buses that arrived at Union Station on January 6th and presented evidence to support his claim. However, his time for questioning was cut short.

Higgins objected, stating that all members across the aisle had been granted time while his question was being closed. He concluded by calling the buses “nefarious in nature” and accusing the FBI of deploying informants dressed as Trump supporters onto the Capitol. He warned Wray that his day would come.

The exchange between Higgins and Wray highlights the ongoing scrutiny and debate surrounding the events of January 6th and the potential involvement of law enforcement agencies.
