Massachusetts Woman Surprised by FedEx’s Delivery of $20,000 Worth of Lottery Tickets

A Massachusetts resident named Danielle Alexandrov recently received a surprising package from FedEx. To her astonishment, the package contained lottery tickets worth a whopping $20,000. Bewildered by this unusual and valuable gift, Alexandrov couldn’t fathom who would send her such a package. She shared her perplexity with local TV station WCVB, expressing her confusion and curiosity about the sender’s identity.

Alexandrov narrated her experience, stating, “As I was going through the boxes, everything seemed normal until I came across a particularly heavy one. I opened it and found a box of scratch tickets. At that moment, I wondered if this was some kind of prank. But when I looked at the receipt, it showed that the tickets were worth $20,000.”

However, it turned out that the tickets were not intended for Alexandrov. They were actually meant to be delivered to Kenyon’s Market on East Falmouth Highway. Due to a delivery mix-up, the package mistakenly arrived at Alexandrov’s office in East Falmouth, where she works as a recovery coach.

Upon discovering the error, Alexandrov and her colleagues decided to do the right thing and return the package. She explained, “We checked the receipt and the intended destination, and we knew we had to return it. I played out different scenarios in my mind, considering the consequences of keeping the tickets. Ultimately, I decided that returning them was the right thing to do.”

Interestingly, the scratch tickets held no value until they were validated by an authorized lottery retailer. Christian Teja from the Massachusetts Lottery clarified, “Until these tickets are activated by a retail agent, they have no value. If someone were to try and cash a winning ticket without proper validation, it would be flagged, and they would be unable to collect the prize.”

The incident was captured on video by the Lottery Post, showcasing Alexandrov’s reaction to the unexpected delivery.

In related news, the article also provides information on where lottery tickets can be purchased. They are available in-person at various locations such as gas stations, convenience stores, grocery stores, and even some airport terminals. Additionally, online ticket ordering is possible through Jackpocket, the official digital lottery courier of the USA TODAY Network. This service is available in select U.S. states, allowing users to conveniently order tickets, select their desired lottery game and numbers, and even collect their winnings through the Jackpocket app.

This story highlights the integrity and honesty exhibited by Danielle Alexandrov, who made the decision to return the $20,000 worth of lottery tickets that were mistakenly delivered to her office.
