A woman in Martin County, Florida, who was known for her supply of fentanyl, collapsed during her arrest after being informed that she could potentially face a minimum of 25 years in prison. Skyya Lanasha Charles, a 42-year-old drug dealer from Riviera Beach, was charged with trafficking in fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance. The arrest took place as part of an operation targeting mid-level drug dealers in the area. Charles had taken over sales from a lower-level dealer and boasted about her ability to obtain unlimited amounts of fentanyl. During the operation, she was caught making a delivery of 140 capsules of fentanyl, which equates to 21 grams. She also offered to sell a sample of methamphetamine. When Charles was apprehended for trafficking fentanyl, she fainted. After regaining consciousness, she was taken to the Marion County Jail on a $370,000 bond. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that her charges carry a minimum mandatory prison sentence of 25 years.
