India’s dominant performance came to a disappointing end as Australia thwarted their quest for the coveted silverware. The Australians once again demonstrated their meticulous planning and ruthless execution, successfully chasing down a target of 241 runs in just 43 overs. Travis Head emerged as India’s nemesis with an impressive innings of 137 runs off 120 balls.
Prior to the final, Australia captain Pat Cummins had expressed the satisfaction of hearing a large crowd go silent, and his team delivered on that promise. The atmosphere at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad turned somber as Australia steadily approached victory.
The defeat left shattered hearts scattered across the stadium, which had been expected to become a new symbol of triumph for the buoyant Indian cricket team.
