Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son, Vaibhav Gehlot, was interrogated for nine hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on allegations of foreign exchange rule violations. He has been summoned again for further questioning on November 16, just after Diwali. This development comes as Rajasthan gears up for the upcoming elections scheduled for November 25.
Vaibhav Gehlot arrived at the ED headquarters in Delhi at approximately 11:30 am. The summons are related to the recent raids conducted by the ED on Triton Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd., Vardha Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., and their directors and promoters, including Shiv Shankar Sharma and Rattan Kant Sharma. During the searches conducted last month, the ED seized Rs 1.2 crore in cash. Allegations suggest that the Triton group received investment from a Mauritius-based entity in 2007-2008.
Ashok Gehlot has dismissed the allegations against his son, stating that Vaibhav has no involvement in foreign exchange transactions. He clarified that Vaibhav only owns a taxi company and no longer works with Rattan Kant Sharma, who was previously his partner. The Rajasthan Chief Minister criticized the central agencies, accusing the BJP-led central government of misusing them, which has negatively affected their credibility.
Furthermore, Gehlot expressed his displeasure with the short notice summons issued by the ED, questioning its seriousness. He asked, “Is this a joke?”
