Athletico Striker Rômulo Loaned to Turkish Football

The football club Athletico has recently loaned the forward player referred to as Romulo to another team known as Göztepe, which is based in Türkiye. A notable point to mention about this move is that the 21-year-old player had not been actively utilized by the coach Juan Carlos Osorio.

The team Göztepe is currently competing in the Turkish second division and holds an impressive second position in the league, with a score of 42 points accumulated over 22 games. The forward player, Romulo, has already arrived in the country and his presence has been noted by the Turkish press.

Romulo, who was initially revealed by Maringá, concluded his training at CT do Caju, where he passed through the under-17 and under-20 categories with distinction. The striker debuted as a professional for Furacão in November 2021, which was during the 33rd round of the Brasileirão, inside the Ligga Arena, under the guidance of Alberto Valentim.

The following year, he started regularly in Paranaense’s games and maintained his position even after the arrival of Felipão. His most memorable goal was the one that resulted in a 1-1 draw with Libertad in Paraguay, which assured Athletico a spot in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores. Overall, Romulo played in 51 games and scored nine goals, while also assisting five times.

However, in 2023, Romulo’s performance slipped and he only made 28 appearances, scoring one goal and making one assist. With the introduction of a new coach and more competition for his position this season, Rômulo saw less game time and only played against Azuriz in the 0-0 draw in the second round.

Two more forwards, namely, the young Arriagada, who was playing for Chile in the pre-Olympics, and Matheus Babi, who was given an opportunity to play by Osorio against Cianorte, might also be loaned out by Furacão.
