Beloved Actor Junior Mehmood Passes Away at 67, Succumbing to Cancer After a Courageous Fight

Veteran actor Junior Mehmood passed away at the age of 67 in Mumbai after a long battle with cancer. With a career spanning over five decades, Mehmood had worked in more than 250 films.

Two weeks ago, it was announced that Mehmood was fighting stage 4 cancer, and unfortunately, his condition deteriorated last night, leading to his demise at his home in Mumbai.

Born as Naeem Sayyed, Junior Mehmood was widely known for his roles in popular films like Kati Patang, Mera Naam Joker, Parvarish, and Do Aur Do Paanch.

He began his acting journey as a child artist in the movie ‘Naunihal’ alongside Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni, and Indrani Mukherjee. Since the release of ‘Naunihal’ in 1967, he adopted the stage name Junior Mehmood. In addition to his acting career, Mehmood also produced several Marathi films.

Recently, comedian and actor Johnny Lever visited Junior Mehmood, who expressed his wish to meet actors Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar. Both Jeetendra and Pilgaonkar fulfilled his request and spent time with the veteran actor. Mehmood had worked with both actors in various films.

Apart from his film commitments, Junior Mehmood was also actively involved in stage shows in India and abroad.

The entertainment industry mourns the loss of this talented actor and pays tribute to his remarkable contributions to the world of cinema.
