California Nonprofit Founder Loses Gun Permit After Engaging in Shootout with Would-Be Robbers

A founder of a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles, known for organizing large toy drives, has alleged that his concealed carry permit was revoked after he was involved in a shootout with intruders at his home. Vince Ricci gained attention earlier this month when he used his own firearm to defend himself against potential robbers at his Mid City residence. Surveillance footage captured Ricci approaching his house on November 4, holding a drink and removing his keys from his pocket. Two armed suspects scaled the fence of his property, with one of them attacking Ricci from behind. In an interview with FOX 11 on November 14, Ricci expressed his concern for the safety of his family and daughter when he turned around and saw the intruder. He retaliated by opening fire at the suspects, who also fired back before fleeing the scene.

According to a report from FOX News, Ricci’s concealed carry permit has been revoked. In an interview with FOX News, Ricci voiced his frustration, claiming that his ability to protect himself and exercise his Second Amendment rights were now at risk. He criticized those who he referred to as “leftist gun grabbers” for not prioritizing people’s safety and expressed his support for the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Following FOX News’ article, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) issued a statement clarifying that while they are investigating the November 4 shootout, they had not revoked Ricci’s permit. Prior to this incident, Ricci had openly expressed his support for law enforcement and highlighted the lack of support they receive. He emphasized this in his interview with FOX 11, stating, “I support the police department. I think they’re not getting the support that they need.”

This was not the first time Ricci’s home had been targeted. In the same November 14 interview, he revealed that his house had been previously robbed, resulting in the loss of valuable items. He expressed disappointment that no arrests were made or follow-up investigations conducted.

Ricci is familiar to some viewers due to his previous interviews with FOX 11. Last winter, he and his nonprofit organization, Trina’s Kids Foundation, aimed to set a record-breaking toy drive. Despite the recent incident, Ricci remains determined to continue giving back to the community, stating, “There’s no fear that any criminal could put in my heart that will stop me from giving back. This community has embraced me, and I will always give back.”

FOX 11 attempted to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for comment but did not receive a response on November 19.
