Canadian MP Chandra Arya Raises Concerns Over Alleged Khalistani Plot to Target Temple: Urges Immediate Intervention and Resolute Measures

Canada MP Alleges Khalistani Plan to Target Temple

An India-origin Canadian member of Parliament, Chandra Arya, has shared a video on social media showing Pro Khalistani supporters in Surrey claiming their intention to create trouble at the Hindu Laxmi Narayan Mandir in the area. Arya has called on the Canadian authorities to take action and intervene in the situation.

In his social media post, Arya mentioned an incident from the previous week where Khalistan supporters verbally abused a Sikh family outside a Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey. He expressed concern that the same Khalistan group now aims to cause trouble at the Hindu temple. Arya emphasized that these actions are being justified in the name of freedom of speech and expression, and he urged the Canadian authorities to step in and address the issue.

Arya noted that Hindu temples have been targeted in attacks over the past few years, and hate crimes have been committed against Hindu-Canadians. He emphasized that allowing such actions to continue openly and publicly is unacceptable.

This incident is not an isolated one, as a Hindu temple in Canada was vandalized earlier this year by extremist elements displaying Khalistan referendum posters. Several other incidents of attacks on Hindu temples have been recorded, including the vandalization of the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Windsor and the Ram Mandir in Mississauga, both in Ontario. The Consulate General of India in Toronto has condemned these incidents and called for prompt action against the perpetrators.

The relationship between India and Canada has also been strained recently. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed in the Canadian Parliament that his country’s national security officials had reasons to believe that “agents of the Indian government” were involved in the killing of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was also the president of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara. India has rejected these claims, calling them “absurd” and “motivated.” India had temporarily halted its visa services for Canada in September but decided to resume them last month for certain categories after a review of the security situation.

It is important for the Canadian authorities to take these allegations seriously and investigate the claims made by Chandra Arya. Protecting religious institutions and ensuring the safety of all communities is crucial for maintaining peace and harmony in society.
