Chinese School Expels 6-Year-Old Girl Following Father’s Complaint, Allegedly Forced Her to Wash Dishes for 20 Days

A 6-year-old girl in China was expelled from her kindergarten after her father filed a complaint about her being forced to wash dishes for three weeks. The girl’s father, surnamed Yu, posted a video on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, revealing that his daughter had been assigned the task of washing dishes for 25 children continuously for 21 days.

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the father stated that his daughter would come home exhausted and drenched in sweat. He shared an incident when his daughter woke up in the middle of the night and expressed her desire to quit kindergarten, explaining how she was left alone to wash dishes while other kids played.

Mr. Yu described his daughter’s teacher as “malicious” and criticized the kindergarten for defending their actions by claiming that they wanted to toughen her up. They also alleged that she was too “lively” and would only nap when tired. As a result of raising the issue, Mr. Yu claimed that his daughter became a target of bullying and was eventually expelled from the school.

The child’s grandparents discovered the expulsion when they went to pick her up from school and were provided with no explanation or prior notice. Mr. Yu expressed his disappointment with the lack of response from the teacher, who has not faced him or offered any explanation thus far.

Following the incident, the local education authority announced on November 23 that they would investigate the matter. The girl’s father hopes for a resolution and accountability for the mistreatment his daughter endured.
